SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE PACIFIC ISLANDS
What does sustainability really mean in the South Pacific? How does it impact on government policies and the grassroots people of the region? Journalism students at the University of the South Pacific have been seeking some answers about development - the result: a series of 15 spot reports on issues facing the region. The second-year television course students report mini-stories for Pacific Way on issues as wide-ranging as agriculture, coral reef degradation, education, fisheries, nutrition, logging and reproductive health. The project was initiated and funded by UNESCO, and was produced by the students and the Journalism Programme, University of the South Pacific, in partnership with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community's Regional Media Centre.
